One of America’s favorite three-day weekends is just around the corner, and we want to help you keep those “summer vibes” going as long as possible.
Having a day off from work is (usually) a reason to celebrate, all on its own. Give someone three days. . . well. . . seems like a reason to kick back and laugh the end of summer away with your friends.
Here are some of our favorite ways to do just that – – with these 11 dank ways to celebrate to Labor Day.
What is Labor Day About Anyway?
There’s a reason you get that three-day weekend and all sorts of BBQs and sales.
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is the creation of the labor movement, and honors the contributions and accomplishments of the American employees / workers. The holiday constitutes an annual, national tribute to the great achievements and contributions made by the workers that furthered the strength, prosperity, and well-being of this country.
First created by the labor movement far back into the late 19th century, Labor Day became an official Federal holiday in 1894. This year (2018), Labor Day will be on Monday, September 3rd.
And we’re going to have deals.
We’re talking 20% off throughout the entire store, so you can stock up on supplies before following this list of some super dank ways to celebrate Labor Day.
Ways to Celebrate Labor Day
1. Keep It Simple
Just plan for a classic backyard barbecue; it doesn’t need to be anything fancy.
For most of us American workers, it’s pretty difficult to celebrate Labor Day Weekend without a classic, laughter-filled barbecue. So, round up your closest friends for the dankest, all-American event of the season, complete with all the grill favorites, a fire summer playlist, and – of course – weed louder than your music.
Take your Labor Day barbecue to a higher level with a ‘Build Your Own Burger (or Hot Dog) Station’, a dab bar, and plenty of blunts and pre-rolls / joints to keep your cook-out going all night.
2. Have an American – Themed Potluck
It’s hard to go wrong with potlucks, provided you invite people whom you know to cook well.
Potlucks are fun, festive, and the perfect way to both celebrate Labor Day and those munchies in an affordable and efficient way. Just invite your friends to come hang out for Labor Day over in your backyard. Have them all bring their favorite American side-dish, tasty beverage, or dessert.
And don’t forget to have them throw down on the weed! Try sticking to Labor Day themed or summer themed strains, for some extra festivity.
3. Have An All-White Weekend
It’s a pretty well-known rule that there’s no wearing white after Labor Day.
Well, what better way to celebrate your last possible days of being “allowed” to wear the color by having an all-white party for Labor Day Weekend?
Have your guests come decked out in white sundresses, white shirts and pants combos, or whatever else – – it can be as fancy-schmancy or as casual as your Labor Day party is going to be. Decorate with white lights and white paper lanterns to really set the mood.
4. Don’t Forget the Fun & Games
Some people like to match wits at parties. Others like to match lungs.
Hold some fun “stoner challenges” to liven up your Labor Day weekend. After all, there’s no doubting Labor Day is a patriotic holiday.
And, backyard games are a traditional way that family and friends have been celebrating holidays together for centuries. So, hold some smoking challenges such as:
- Iron Lung – Each person aims to take a full-bowl bong hit, in just one breath.
- Speed Smoke – See who can smoke a blunt or joint the fastest. (Be careful to not make yourself ‘green sick’!)
- Back-to-Back – Load up a few different bowls, and keep doing as many bong hits as possible back-to-back.
No matter what type of fun challenges and smoking games you come up with, they’re the perfect way to laugh and smoke away the remaining days of summer.
5. Throw a BYOW Pool Party
That’s right : Bring Your Own Weed!
Big, novelty pool floats are super popular right now and just so much fun (ever float around, stoned, on a pink unicorn?). Soak up the last rays of summer with a bring your own weed pool party – each guest brings their own joints. Fill the pool with some crazy pool floats – – we’re talking hamburgers, T-Rexes, unicorns, and swans.
As the sun starts to go down, turn your pool party into an outdoor movie adventure by projecting a movie onto the side of your house or fence. Make sure everyone has plenty of joints and a beverage, and host a movie night from the pool!
Be prepared with things like glow lights, citronella candles, torches, and bug spray; your guests will thank you for it!
6. Make Cannabis S’Mores
Labor Day is all about celebrating the hard-working American, and S’mores are one of the greatest, classic treats around. Plus, they’re a fun DIY for both kids and adults.
But, one of the best ways to celebrate Labor Day is by including an extra-special treat that’s just for the adults.
Cannabis S’Mores are exactly that!
Just make S’More the way you normally would, but swap out your regular chocolate for some cannabis-infused chocolate! Nothing beats a cannabis S’More!
7. Set Up a Smoke Out
Have a cloudy and laughter-filled end of summer by planning a complete smoke out. Set up a giant bong, add a hookah, put out a table with a collection of glass pieces, and have jars of blunts and joints for easy, memory-forging entertainment. Have your friends bring weed to pitch in, and you’ll be set up for an afternoon of cloudy fun. Just don’t forget the music!
8. Plan a Beach Picnic
Picnics are already perfect for a fun outing or romantic date with your sweetie. Have a picnic on the beach, and you’ve got a beautiful summer backdrop for your meal – – and smoke sesh.
Pack up a basket with some basic food and drinks, include some pipes or joints / blunts, tuck in your stash, round up your friends, and head to your local beach. Be sure to remember to bring the necessities, like chairs or towels, utensils and supplies, extra ice, and other picnic must-haves!
One of the easiest (and tastiest!) things you can pack for a picnic is a CBD smoothie or iced tea in a mason jar. It’s super easy for travel, and convenient to open and enjoy. If you plan to be there during the evening, bring some sparklers and glow sticks to add to the festive mood and make it easier to see while you eat and smoke.
10. Explore the City
Not feeling the whole “party for Labor Day” vibe?
Plan a day or evening out on the town, instead. Check out some of the fun things your city has planned for the holiday. Spark up a blunt and walk around the city, window-shopping or maybe finding a new spot to eat.
If you look at the history of Labor Day, it started out with a pretty massive parade. So, there’s bound to be a local around that you can check out. Plus, most businesses have some sort of Labor Day sale you can celebrate with.
In fact, we’re going to be giving 20% OFF the entire store!
It’s a three-day weekend. Pack up a bag, hop in your car, and head to some place like Seattle or Tacoma. Smoke your blunts, walk around, and enjoy your city while taking advantage of the extra day off work.
11. Stay In
Not much one for socializing or being out on the town? Not a problem! There are plenty of ways to celebrate Labor Day from the comfort of your own home.
One of our personal favorites? A blanket fort!
Camping has always been a beloved American pastime, but who says it has to be done in a tent out in the cold woods? Gather up the kids, make it a date, or just invite over your best friends – – you can have your own epic Labor Day weekend camping trip with a blanket fort, indoor s’mores, stoner comedy movies, and plenty of joints or blunts to go around.
No matter which of these dank ways to celebrate Labor Day you go with – from a fun BBQ to hot-boxing a blanket fort – just be sure to make the most of it. Labor Day is about your hard work and contributions as an American worker – – so kick back and enjoy the three-day weekend!
